HTC Hero: music player and John’s final thoughts

By

I had to edit out a few things. Originally, I corrected two mistakes – in another vid, I called the rubberized black back brown, and said that the phone lacked 1700 AND 2100 MHz bands. I also spoke about the lack of a camera button, but I’ve said enough about this device for now. Stay tuned for coverage from Mr. Kravitz. does the music player have landscape view, or how does it looks when you turn it sideways?

2

Aww he didn’t even turn it sideways in the music player thats what I wanted to see if it still had cover flow when choosing songs like how the iPhone does

3

damn this guy has good music taste. that ninja sampler disc he had pulled up proved it…plus i saw my bloody valentine and MIA!

4

the handset comes free when you sign up to say a 24 month contract with the network

9

lol idiot! this is not an iphone duuh!

10

In the video, it’s said there’s no syncing.. I guess it’s direct transfer of files from laptop or some storage device directly into the Hero’s memory?

oh yea triming is very useful

13

so true i already pre ordered my htc hero from best buy

Well as you know you can reply with a qwerty board in portrait mode as well so you don’t have to wait for landscape. But I know how that is, my instinct pisses me off when it I’m replying to a text.

i put that rom on my g1 and it runs smoothly thanks to J

Can’t believe people are saying things like “Where’s noah”. Get a life. Seriously. John you did a great job.

This may be a silly question – i haven’t got the HTC yet but i want to. What I wanted to know is how is the music loaded onto the phone? I there a HTC media player like iTunes media player so that i can “sync” my phone?!

How much is this phone??

Lets hope by the time it reaches you guys in the US, HTC will have sorted the LAG!!!!!! it looks so jittery!!! the UI looks sick but i disagree with previous posters that this will kill the iphone!!! the iPhone has the simplistic UI and anyone from all ages could use one.

Except for the fact that both Engadget and Gizmodo are known Apple/iPhone/iPod fanboys. Read any Apple review on their site and you’ll see them be just as biased (and judging by your username, I see why you favored their review over John’s and PhoneDog’s)

in your opinion what colour of this phone is better white or black however the black phone has not got teflon on the back is that important?

22

wow you speak fast but that good

lol@iPhone

Yeah, it’s that which makes me not want to get rid of my iphone. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy with the iphone, with Mobileme, contacts and calendar events are always synced. I have a google account too which I could sync with the Hero and save myself the £65 p/y on Mobile. Being that I have JUST renewed that, I would have it regardless so I am going to stick with it for one more year I think. The other thing is all my purchased iTunes music issue.
The Hero does look like phone tho!

This is like the uber mega Iphone Destroyer, I havent used an android phone yet, but I can already see that this will be the next big thing, once it ships outside of Europe. Since my phone company dosent support android (except unlocked G1) I cant buy one of these. But I really think that HTC has really done everything to make their companny THEIR company with this phone. The new sense UI looks beautiful and even nicer than the Iphone in my opinion.
