The Car Rims
ByCar rims are now either out of rolled steel produced or made light alloy cast or forged. Steel wheels are usually cheaper, but are not as visually as attractive as alloy wheels. In some cases, reduced mass in the use of aluminum wheels, the response of the suspension is better. Since high-strength steels used today are, however, the corresponding lower wall thicknesses do with, has a weight advantage of the currently back to the steel rim changed frequently. The commercial vehicle wheels are often made of cast steel used for motorcycles; however those already made fiber composite.
The most commonly used steel wheels are called a disc wheel and are usually out of the rims itself (case of spoke wheels is often part of this “rim band) and the wheel disc or wheel disc. Today’s wheels are made of hot rolled steel with high yield (> 600 MPa produced), the wheel disc as well. Both are from the inside sections, welded, as in welding, the component would be forgiven is continuous. The position of the welding seams is selected so that these (seen in cross section in the zero crossing of the alternating current that occur during dynamic lie). Thus, fatigue is a (vital) ensures the welding seams are particularly critical at.
Alloy wheels are usually made of aluminum, less frequently – from Magnesium-Alloys (Formula 1, Rally expensive sports cars) in the casting process and manufactured a special paint bear. They are all here in one piece rims to be distinguished from multi-part. One-piece alloy wheels are made of a single piece of metal, while multi-piece rims example from rim and tire rim to exist, which are screwed together. Alloy wheels are usually in the production process with a matte silver paint and a clear coat layer covered or rarely with a darker finish, under circumstances in body color.
